It’s been a few weeks since Oh! tillie’s last post but from now on we will try and add a new post every couple of days, possibly everyday. So today, we will discuss creating the famous doe-eyed sixties look; in five easy steps.
Before we start though, I would like to cast everyone’s minds back to a time when
and Twiggy
ruled the magazine pages due to their unique take on make-up in the 1960’s. Large, smoky eyes and nude coloured lips was the look everyone was trying to emulate and to this day current celebrities and fashion designers are all using this image to make a statement and we’re going to help you create the same look using Youngblood and Harlotte Cosmetics -so lets get started!
Step 1 - EYE SHADOW use a dusky grey or charcoal coloured eye shadow and lightly sweep it over your lids and into the socket. Depending on your eye colour you can even use eye shadows that have a blue base such as Youngblood’s Raven or if you really want to make your eyes pop check out Younblood’s Eggplant or Sedona.
Step 2 - EYELINER Harlotte’s Smudge Eyeliner Pencil is fantastic for boosting the impact of your smoky eyes. You’ll be able to create a bold black line, in a single stroke. Just draw a line along the upper and lower lashes and then gently smudge the lines for a sexy finish!
Step 3 - MASCARA Pile on plenty of Harlotte Lash Candy Mascara. Two or three layers will give your eyes the finishing touch.
Step 4 - BLUSH Oh! tillie has an amazing range of blush, so for the 60’s look make sure you opt for a pale pink or apricot blush to subtly define your cheeks, becuase we want to keep your eyes the main focus. Colours we would recommended are: Tulip, Dusty Pink and Coral Reef in the Youngblood Crushed Mineral Blush range, Petal or Nectar in the Youngblood Pressed Mineral Blush range and Frisky Pink and Peach Frenzy in the Harlotte range.
Step 5 - LIPS If you’re used to wearing a red or dark lip colour, now is the time to experiment with your look and be brave, because nothing looks sexier than smoky eyes, teamed with a nude pout. First of all, line your lips with a nude liner, ( Harlott’e’s Naked Beige or Naked Pink Lipliners are perfect for this ). Fill in the remaining area with a pale lipstick like Harlotte’s Skinny Dip, Pure, Brides Nighty and Starkers and blot for a matte finish or for a bit more glamour cover the entire lip with Harlotte Lipshine. So there you have it, all the essentials you’ll ever need to create a 60’s vibe, but just remember, the key is smouldering, smoky eyes and neutral cheeks and lips.
